Hey, friends. Now that I’ve made it through the first few weeks of my 30 before 30, I thought that it would be helpful to provide an update. First, I’ll say that the most valuable lesson that I’ve taken away from this process so far is the importance of writing ideas down. The items on this list are ideas that have been swimming around in my mind for quite some time but I never really took the time to write them down or to do anything to act on them.
While I haven’t spent an inordinate amount of time on this list, just having a proper list to work through has been so helpful. I’m not sure if I’ll make it through everything on the list by my 30th but either way I appreciate the process.
If you haven’t given this a try yourself, take 30 minutes today and see what you can add to your own list. Make it realistic and full of items that you would really enjoy (not the things that you feel like you SHOULD be doing).
So, here are the 8 areas where I’ve either started, completed, or made progress in over the past few weeks….
Bucket List Update
Listen to more classical music (started)
Create a 40 before 40 list (started, not finished)
Worry Less (making progress)
Not feel guilty about not finishing books that I don’t like (completed)
Date night with my husband once a month (successful in January)
Organize and edit my wardrobe (work in progress)
Finish Person of Interest Series (almost finished with season 4)
Re-watch a favorite childhood movie (completed, watched Benji with my sister)
Next priority: Morning Pages for a week
Lastly, do you ever have an idea and then come across the same idea 3 or more times in a short period of time? This is what has happened to me lately with morning pages. I’ve been wanting to give it a try for quite some time but have just never devoted the time to it. But, as I hear over and over about the benefits I know that I need to jump in and just try it. The final push was reading Tim Ferriss’s book ‘Tools of Titans.” In the book he mentions multiple people (including himself) who make this a non-negotiable part of their morning.
If you’re curious about Morning Pages just hop on over to Google and type in “Morning Pages Julia Cameron” for some great tips and ideas.
