“Do a little more of what you really want to be doing each day, and a little less of what you don’t want to do, until eventually your reality is brimming with the real deal”
-Danielle LaPorte author of The Fire Starter Sessions
Creating Positive Change:
From my own experiences, this advice is so on point. While it might be easier to simply complain or whine about myriads of problems that you are facing, ultimately, the best course of action is to find little ways to add in the things you love throughout your day.
For example, if you don’t find your day job to be fulfilling or interesting make a list of activities or topics that you find engaging and think of creative ways that you could incorporate those into your evenings or weekends.
This might mean finding a volunteer position for an hour a week, starting a podcast, writing, or trying a sport that you haven’t played since childhood.
Habits.
If you have done any length of reading on the topic of habits, you might be familiar with this idea of ‘adding in.’ Adding 1 simple habit at a time can be a phenomenal way to make big changes in your life over the long-term.
So, what do I do next?
- Choose 1 positive habit or change that you think would make a big impact upon your overall life. Some ideas might include: meditation, learning a new language, reading, listening to a podcast, writing, painting, it could be anything.
- Start doing it today, even if it’s just 1-3 minutes.
- Do it again tomorrow.
- Once it becomes a habit where you don’t even have to think about doing it, try a new habit or experience
Now, obviously this isn’t going to change your entire life overnight. However,
However, over a period of 6 months or a year, there is no doubt that you will be shocked by the results. I know that has been my experience!
