Stitch Fix:
Well friends, it’s been over 3 years since I started using Stitch Fix but I realized that I’ve never really talked about it on the blog. I like to keep things simple and don’t shop often, so I pretty much limit my shopping to two places: Nordstrom and Stitch Fix. For me, it’s important to have fewer items, but to own things that I really love and wear often.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, here are the basics:
What is Stitch Fix?
Stitch Fix is a subscription box that you can receive twice a month, monthly, quarterly, or you can schedule them whenever you want. You’re not required to receive a certain number of boxes, the frequency is totally up to you. In each box, you receive 5 pieces of clothing, accessories, shoes, etc. and you can fill out a stye profile to let your stylist know what items you prefer. For example, I marked that I don’t want to receive shoes or accessories.
I should also mention that there is a $20 styling fee for each box. However, if you keep at least one item from the box the $20 is deducted from the cost of the item/s you are keeping. However, there is sort of a way around this….
For two years I have purchased a Style Pass…and this means that I pay $49 (once again, this can be deducted from any Stitch Fix item throughout the year) for a one year pass. With the style pass I can receive unlimited fixes during the year and aside from the one time, $49 that is deduced, I don’t pay the styling fee throughout the year.
This means that as long as you plan to spend at least $49 per year with Stitch Fix, it’s a good deal. My biggest concern when starting to use Stitch Fix was what if I don’t like ANY of the clothes in my box? For me, the Style Pass eliminated this concern. If I don’t like anything I can just send it all back without being charged for a Styling Fee.
Stitch Fix is a Good Fit for You If:
- You’re petite (like me), tall, etc. and have a difficult time finding clothes that fit, especially pants!
- You don’t mind paying a little more for convenience. For example, if you are used to buying all of your clothes at Target or H&M, you might find Stitch Fix to be a little pricey.
- You hate shopping.
- The surprise of getting clothes in the mail is something you love.
- You want to try new styles, trends, but don’t know where to start.
Changing or Keeping Stylists?
I’ve only had 2 stylists since I started using Stitch Fix. I really think that’s why it’s worked so well for me. If you keep the same stylist, they really get to know your style, preferences, etc. This allows you to get boxes that are really tailored to your personal style.
For example, my stylist Jen knows that I work from home so I don’t need overly dressy suits or dresses. She also knows that my favorite color is blue, and what colors I don’t like.
You can also give your stylist feedback after each fix. This is a great way to be honest. Tell your stylist EXACTLY what you liked or didn’t like about each piece. By doing this, your fixes should get better and better with time.
For this post, I just wanted to give a brief introduction to what Stitch Fix is. However, I may write future posts on How to Get the Best Fix. Or, other questions that you might have!
Overall Thoughts:
Overall, I’ve been so happy with my fixes. As someone who is notoriously picky when it comes to clothing, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. So far, I’ve kept at least one item out of the 13 boxes that I’ve received.
If you think this is something you are interested in, feel free to click here. I spent about a year debating whether or not to try it, but I’m so glad that I did. It’s been a great way to expand my wardrobe and to find pieces that I truly love.
Rather than spending hours browsing online or in a store, I can easily have clothes sent to my home that I’m almost guaranteed to love (because my Stylist, Jen knows me well).
If you have any other questions about Stitch Fix, you can always send me a message here. I’d be happy to help. Or, let me know if you’ve tried Stitch Fix. What did you think?
P.S. Next time I’ll try to take pics of each of the pieces that I received!
