The Book of Mistakes
A few months ago my friend, Victoria, recommended a really good book called Three Feet From Gold and I absolutely loved it! The book of Mistakes is actually quite similar in many of the ideas and principles…so if you’ve read one, you’ll certainly like the other.
I’ll give you a brief overview and the main ideas. However, this is definitely one where I would say, GO GET THE BOOK. While I can go through the big picture ideas, I will in no way do it justice because it’s so good. I should also mention that I received this book as a member of the launch team for this book, so I did not pay for my copy of the book. That being said, I would still give it a 10/10 rating either way.
Also, if you’re someone who prefers short and sweet, you’ll love this book. The entire book is only 171 pages which makes for a quick read. I guess you could call it Personal Development if you’re curious about the genre.
The 9 Secrets to Creating a Successful Future:
- Live your own dream
- Recognize your inherent value
- Reject excuses
- Surround yourself with the right people
- Explore outside your comfort zone
- Move forward through challenges with determination and purpose
- Stand out
- Act boldly with the knowledge that your potential for success is unlimited
- Pursue your goals with urgency
I mentioned that I would 100% buy this book! So, you’re probably wondering why? Well, I don’t know about you, but I love books that combine great storytelling with a great message. The story centers around a man named, David who, at the beginning of the book is struggling. He’s unhappy in his work and frankly, in most areas of his life.
However, through a series of encounters, he meets 9 interesting people who, combined with 9 compelling pieces of wisdom, transform the trajectory of his life.
In fact, I’m certain that this is a book that I’ll return to again and again in the future.
I will leave you with a few of my favorite direct quotes/pieces of wisdom from throughout the book:
- Every person in our lives offers wisdom.
- Discard the unnecessary to make room for what matters.
- A life well lived is a life true to who you are. Not who others say you are.
- Determine who you want to be, not what you want to do.
- Excuses cannot withstand positive self-talk. If you want to take your life back, take your thoughts back.
- Who you are around, determines where you go.
- Setbacks are the seeds that sprout opportunities.
- Knowing your life is limited will keep you focused.
What about you? Did any of these quotes or ideas resonate with you? If so, let me know! Also, you can click here to find a copy of the book.
