What Makes You Happy
A few weeks ago I was watching a Facebook Live video with Sarah Von Bargen. She provided some tips and activities for recognizing what brings us joy and happiness in our everyday lives. One of the activities that really resonated with me was creating a list of “Things that make you happy.” The reason that I loved this is because if we are not actively aware of the daily experiences, activities, or things that bring us joy, then it’s difficult to be genuinely happy.
I started my own list and thought that I would share it with you. While your list probably won’t look exactly like mine I hope that it will inspire you to create your own list.
Also, it’s good to keep your list somewhere where you can easily access it. This year I am using the Passion Planner for my agenda so I have my list in the back of my Passion Planner on one of the blank pages. You can even keep your list on your refrigerator or on your IPhone. Once you create your list, make sure to keep adding to it on a regular basis. Whenever you think of something or realize you are doing something you really love, make a note of it on your list.
What Makes Me Happy:
-
A fresh cup of black coffee
-
Walks without my phone (or any technology)
-
Wandering the mall on a weekday
-
Coconut scents
-
Travel
-
Journaling with a cup of tea
-
Season appropriate candles
-
Movie theater popcorn
-
Watching college football
-
Reading a magazine while taking a bath
-
Receiving a book in the mail that I’ve been eagerly waiting for
-
Listening to inspiring podcasts
-
Wearing an outfit that I love
-
Hula hooping with good music
-
Writing with a favorite pen
-
A relaxing dinner out
-
Getting a Stitch Fix package
-
The feeling of finishing my reports at the end of a workday
-
Wandering through the streets of a new city or place
There you have it! I’ll definitely keep adding to the list but that’s what I have so far. So, now it’s your turn, What Makes You Happy?
If we’re not already friends, head on over to Instagram and let me know what you added to your list. You can find me @betsyramserjaime
